A Poem

Without going into details that aren’t mine to share, a friend of a friend had something quite terrible happen to them. I only found out about this incident last night. Afterwards, I had the urge to write something. My heart and thoughts are with those affected.

On rusted-wings the angel soars, and sings

She will not heed his song

Broken glass smile flashed at the faceless shadows that she passes

The sun does not shine behind her eyes

Where there lurks the deep

Too proud to beg, too strong to weep

Like a saint of sorrows, she suffers

Alone

“Wouldn’t it be grand, if life deigned not to hand,

a yoke of misery on the gentle

These souls as fragile as lace

Never far from grace

In weakness our humanity is chained”

Or so the angel says;

and finally she hears

The voice, of his, or another, near

—and through the paper-thin veil she peers

Into an intangibility

Shouting from beyond; she harks

A promise, a step, must come

Between bravery and loathing

Low, does the Sword of Damocles swing

Darkly, beautifully brave she leaps—

Eternity embraces her

Serenity sings

This poem is just beautiful. I am sure it blessed the recipient. I found you from the blogfest on IU.

I’m glad that you liked it; bitter-sweet as it may be. I also hope that it found its recipient. Most importantly, I wish them peace; which may of us struggle to find in life.
